You can imagine my surprise when I came upon this post!
Hopefully, I’ll have him up there again this year come fall.
Looks like you “nailed” some beautiful shots too with a little help from him 🙂
    Really enjoying your website Sparky!

    Best,

    Robert Visconti – Lindenhurst, IL

Hi Robert, Glad you found the post!
We’ll have to shoot again up there this coming fall. My plastic owl “Earl” is itching to attract some more Gos! Feel free to email me at sparkystensaas@hotmail.com if your ever coming north. I’m often up at the Sax-Zim Bog in winter too.

[June 19, 2022; Churchill, Manitoba on Hudson Bay] Yawning or yodeling?Pacific Loon on tundra pond (answer: yawning) (A video of my experiences on the tundra around Churchill will be coming soon to my YouTube channel “Sparky Stensaas“) [Canon R5 with Canon 100-500mm lens and 2x extender; 1/1000 second at f7.1; ISO 2000; handheld] #Churchill #churchillmanitoba #tundra #tundrabirds #manitobawildlife #thephotonaturalist #sparkystensaas #canonr5wildlife #birds #birdsofinstagram #birdsofcanada #pacificloon #highkeywildlife #beautyofbirds #best_birds_of_instagram
[May 14, 2022; Stutsman County, North Dakota] This photo shows the crazy intense spring courtship flight of Blue-winged Teal. Five males are in hot pursuit of the female in the middle. Since the skies were gray and didn’t addd to the photo I blew out the whites to make this a high key photo. [June 17, 2022; Hudson Bay, Churchill, Manitoba] Do you call these ice floes? Icebergs? Just big chunks of ice? What’s the proper term? Whatever they are called, the tundra is certainly my happy place [Sony A6500, mini tripod] #hudsonbay #hudsonbaymanitoba #churchillmb #churchillmanitoba #sparkystensaas #icebergsandpeople
[June 17, 2022; Churchill, Manitoba on Hudson Bay] Female ducks get a lot of attention this time of year :-). Male Common Eiders vying for a female‘s attention among the ice floes of Hudson Bay (A video of my experiences on the tundra around Churchill will be coming soon to my YouTube channel “Sparky Stensaas“) [Canon R5 with Canon 100-500mm lens; 1/640 second at f8; ISO 100; handheld] #Churchill #churchillmanitoba #tundra #tundrabirds #manitobawildlife #thephotonaturalist #sparkystensaas #canonr5wildlife #birds #birdsofinstagram #birdsofcanada #commoneider #seaduck #beautyofbirds #best_birds_of_instagram
[June 19, 2022; Churchill, Manitoba on Hudson Bay] It’s funny… In Minnesota I only see Parasite Jaegers flying over Lake Superior, harassing gulls into vomiting up their last meal which they swoop up and eat. But here around Churchill I am encountering them out on the wet tundra where they nest. This pair was especially irked since evidently I was close to a nest. I tried to get away as quick as I could and they made sure I did. You will see you in the upcoming video how much they hated my presence :-) (A video of my experiences on the tundra around Churchill will be coming soon to my YouTube channel “Sparky Stensaas“) [Canon R5 with Canon 100-500mm lens; 1/1250 second at f8; +1.3ev; ISO 2000; handheld] #Churchill #churchillmanitoba #tundra #tundrabirds #manitobawildlife #thephotonaturalist #sparkystensaas #canonr5wildlife #birds #birdsofinstagram #birdsofcanada #parasiticjaeger #arcticskua #beautyofbirds #best_birds_of_instagram
